Follow on Google News | What's In A Name? A talk on Bob Dylan and Dylan ThomasThe relationship between Bob Dylan and Dylan Thomas is to be explored in an evening of talks and music on Friday 4 November at 7.30pm at the Dylan Thomas Centre.
By: City and County of Swansea Professor David Boucher of Cardiff University will discuss the relationship between Dylan Thomas and Bob Dylan, and Daniel Williams, lecturer and Director of the Richard Burton Centre at Swansea University, will talk about their cultural legacy. Jo Furber, Literature Officer at the Dylan Thomas Centre said “In the late fifties Robert Zimmerman started calling himself Bob Dylan when performing. “He’s stated on various occasions – including in his book Chronicles - that this was in homage to Dylan Thomas, whose poetry had influenced him”. The event which is part of the Dylan Thomas Festival will also feature music from Colum Regan and Lawson Dando. Colum is a seasoned performer whose upcoming album, Hotel, incorporates elements of folk and world music and features the talents of Lawson Dando. Dando, a multi-instrumentalist and producer who performed with The Incredible String Band, has produced many of Robin Williamson's solo albums.
