Nov. 2, 2011 - PRLog -- Heavy-lift freight forwarding network, the Project Professionals Group, has developed a strategic overdimensional gateway into the United States with the appointment of the Port of San Antonio as a new Project Support Member.
PPG also has Port Corpus Christi as a Project Support Member located in south Texas on the Gulf of Mexico.
PPG general manager Kevin Stephens said Port Corpus Christi and the Port of San Antonio had a close partnership that provided PPG members with a number of strategic ship, road, air, and rail service options servicing the United States.
“Port San Antonio enjoys designation as a Foreign Trade Zone with markets of more than 90 million people within two days drive of the city and is also linked to Port Corpus Christi by road and rail,” Mr Stephens said.
He said Port San Antonio was a master-planned 1900 acre aerospace, industrial complex and international logistics platform. The site includes the former Kelly Air Force Base that has an 11,500 ft runway with Federal Inspection Services, suitable for international and domestic heavy lift wide body aircraft, such as an AN-124.
Mr Stephens said Port San Antonio was approximately equidistant from the East and West coasts of the United States and at the center of the NAFTA Corridor between Mexico and Canada.
“Transportation offerings include an airport with an 11,500 foot runway, accessibility by two class I railroads, Union Pacific and Burlington Northern Santa Fe, and three interstate highways, IH-35, IH-10 and IH-37, which reside at the Port's front door,” Mr Stephens said.

Meanwhile, Mr Stephens also announced that Beijing Monking Associates Int'l Forwarding had been appointed PPG members servicing Northern China, Western China and Hong Kong. He said Beijing Monking Associates Int'l Forwarding was a full service freight forwarder, with a heavy lift specialty, and their services included project forwarding, import/export (air/sea), customs house brokerage, warehousing and packing.
