Follow on Google News | Dylan Thomas Festival to feature local writersTwo of Swansea’s finest writers Joe Dunthorne and Sarah Coles are taking part in this year’s Dylan Thomas Festival.
By: City and County of Swansea They will give a reading at the Dylan Thomas Centre on Monday 7 November at 7pm. Joe Dunthorne is famous for his novel Submarine which was adapted for cinema under the same title and released to rave reviews in 2010. His latest release Wild Abandon was labelled as ‘One to Watch’ by the London Book Fair, and he also has a pamphlet in Faber’s New Poets series. Sarah Coles is famed for her poetry, fiction and reviews. Her work has appeared in Planet magazine and Gomer’s recent anthology, Another Country: Haiku Poetry from Wales. Her debut collection will be published by Gomer in 2012. Jo Furber, Literature Officer at the Dylan Thomas Centre said “Since the festival is in honour of Dylan Thomas, it’s fantastic that we can feature notable local writers such as Joe and Sarah”. “Dylan would be proud that writers such as these continue to draw inspiration from the city, especially since we are fast approaching the 100th anniversary of his birth in 2014”.
