Nov. 1, 2011 - PRLog -- The NSAPC (National Stress and Anxiety Prevention Center) stepped up to a worthy cause in partnering with the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department to make available books that can provide guidance, encouragement and peace to anyone experiencing stress, anxiety or depression, especially during this pre-holiday season, when millions feel the pains and pressures of being with loved ones.

The donation of these books couldn’t be timelier, stated Wills, especially with stress being the major complaint heard by doctors worldwide. Combine that with these facts:

•  Over 40 million Americans, 18 years or older, are affected by anxiety disorders, according to the Anxiety Disorders Association of America.

•  Each year about 15 million adult Americans suffer from some form of depression, with women falling victim to this condition about twice as often as men, according to recent studies.

•  About 80% of the people suffering from depression now are not receiving any kind of medical treatment. Depression is the number one cause of suicides. Depression also weakens your immune system making you vulnerable for physical diseases.

In their 2011 Summer Awareness Stress, Anxiety and Depression Program, the NSAPC donated copies of this same book, “Suffer No More”, to libraries, women shelters and transitional housing facilities. “Our goal is to let everyone out there know that help is available, and without the use of pharmaceuticals or harmful drugs”, stated Wills, founder of the NSAPC.

On hand to receive the book donation was Sergeant Wong of the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department who stated that the books were well received, and once the books are cleared through operational channels, they will be distributed throughout the jail facilities that are under the jurisdiction of the Sheriff’s Department.  This includes the women’s facility as well as various other jail facilities in California.

The best part about this charitable event was that the NSAPC saw a great cause and immediately wanted to donate in any way they could. They are always looking for a way to give back to their community, which is such a valuable part of any company.
