“Treating toenail fungus is more than about aesthetics,”
Toenail fungus is a common issue. Approximately 10 percent of the population has it, and for those 50 or older, the chance of getting toenail fungus increases to 30 percent.
“My patients, whether they are from Tsawwassen, Delta, Surrey or Richmond,” says Dr. Tom Troy, “are looking for a treatment plan that is fast and can do more than topical ointments. That is why I am now offering treatment with the PinPointe FootLaser at my practice. It works and is pain-free.”
The laser treats toenail fungus by penetrating the toenail and killing the fungus with the laser’s heat. All 10 toenails must be treated at the same time to minimize the chance of re-infection. The entire procedure lasts about 40 minutes, but the nails won’t be cleared immediately. They will clear as the damaged, previously infected nails grow out and are replaced by healthy toenails.
“What my patients have told me frequently is that they appreciate being able to come in for a fast treatment and go right back to work or home without needing any recovery period,” Dr. Tom Troy explains.
