The aim of the Energy Saving Calculator has always been to offer visitors to UK Energy Saving at-a-glance information on energy saving measures in terms of the cost and saving implications. Whilst more detailed background information on the suggestions can be found elsewhere on the website, the Calculator provides a simple way of gauging how effective a measure might be in terms of monetary savings when compared to other options. Hayley Jones, Web Marketing Director at UK Energy Saving, explains why it was felt that it was time for a new look. “The premise behind what the Calculator offers our visitors has not changed at all, but we wanted to give this important feature of our site a fresh look at the same time as making it even easier to check out and compare the cost savings involved in implementing key energy saving measures in the home. We hope we’ve achieved our aim!”
“We’ve now done away with separate tables and image-based pages, instead offering just four key pages with attractive tables of information. As before, the energy saving measures within the Calculator are broken down into bronze (for nil-cost suggestions)
The Energy Saving Calculator includes suggestions ranging from turning the room thermostat down by 1°C and fitting energy saving light bulbs to installing double glazing and investing in solar panels. In each case the approximate cost of the suggestion is indicated along with the monetary, and in the case of the larger scale measures the carbon, savings which can be expected.
