Oct. 29, 2011 - PRLog -- Princeton, NJ -  Beloved children’s book author/illustrator Tomie dePaola, will read and sign the latest in his “Strega Nona” picture book series,  Strega Nona’s Gift, on Thursday, November 3, 2011 at 6:00 pm at the  Princeton Barnes & Noble, 3535 US Route 1 South in the MarketFair Mall, Princeton, NJ.  Line pass distribution begins at 4:00 pm on November 3 at the Route 1 cash wrap area.  Seating is on a first-come/first seated basis.

“We are thrilled to bring Tomie dePaola to the Princeton area with his latest holiday book filled with beautiful art, a very funny story, and an introduction to some new holiday traditions,“ Community Relations Manager Debra Lampert-Rudman said. “Tomie will read briefly, take a few questions, and then sign books for his fans.”

In this latest Strega Nona picture book, all the kitchens are bustling from the Feast of San Nicola in early December, when the children choose the food, to the Feast of Epiphany in January, when someone gets to be king or queen for the day.  Even the animals share in the holiday spirit during one feast where the tradition is to cook for them. When Big Anthony, another of Tomie dePaola’s best-loved characters, smells the delicious treats Strega Nona is cooking for her animals, he decides that just a taste couldn’t hurt, right? Wrong! Big Anthony gets his just desserts, while Strega Nona surprises everyone with a special gift.
