According to Jonathan Cheng, reporter for the Wall Street Journal, the stock market “slide into negative territory amid discouraging headlines about progress on the European debt crisis.” Then they went up, “more than 100 points to the day's highs after reports that China would invest in Europe's bailout fund.”
