Banana Slug songs range from folk to rap, bluegrass to rock and feature vocals, guitar, banjo, mandolin, bass, harmonica and percussion. The lively shows include music, theater, puppetry and audience participation. Biggest hits include “Dirt Made My Lunch” and “Water Cycle Boogie.”
The band’s latest album, ONLY ONE OCEAN, earned a starred review in School Library Journal and won a Parents’ Choice and a Creative Child Magazine awards.
Over the years, the band has won wide acclaim for its music; awards include the Association for Independent Music Indie Award for Best Children’s Recording, a National Parenting Publications Awards Gold Award and the Gail Rich Award. The Slugs have performed at hundreds of venues across the U.S. including the Museum of Natural History in New York City, the Montalvo Arts Center, and the New Orleans Jazz Festival.
