PRLog - Oct. 28, 2011 - NORWICH, U.K. -- Rt Hon Charles Clarke, former UK Secretary of State for Education and Skills, 2002-04 has recognised the eLP-KZ eLearning project as a world class example of how new interactive classroom technologies and eLearning materials are transforming teaching and learning in the Sciences and Languages.
"I deeply congratulate the government and educators of Kazakhstan upon your success in bringing the Kazakh e-learning initiative to the people of your country. This partnership to improve learning in science and engineering has already made significant progress. It is transforming the quality of education in the country and enabling the country’s young people to experience the highest world standards, as is recognised internationally.”

Since 2007, this bold initiative, led by the Ministry of Education and Science and supported by the eLearning Partnership for Kazakhstan, has seen over 20,000 interactive classrooms for science and language teaching installed in schools across the country.

Over 40,000 teachers have been trained on the use of new interactive classroom pedagogies and innovative interactive classroom technologies such as interactive whiteboards, student voting systems and scientific datalogging kits. A key element in the success of this program has been the use of “virtual classrooms” to deliver on-line lessons and teacher training via the internet.

A suite of eLearning content for Biology, Chemistry and Physics in Kazakh, Russian and English was specifically created for the project. In addition new “Intellectual Elearning content” based on powerful computer modelling software has been designed to enhance the delivery of interactive lessons in the classroom and over the Internet.

A special portal was created as part of the initial project – SABAK KZ. Since it was first used by President Nazarbayev to deliver the inaugural on-line lesson at the start of the 2007 school year, the system has become the most widely used eLearning system in Kazakhstan and quite possibly in the world.
