Founded in 2007, Rumah.com has over 120,000 residential and commercial property listings; with over 900,000 users viewing more than 11 million pages. As part of the revamp, there is a new housing directory that provides consumers with the most detailed information of the best properties in Indonesia, with photos and location information nearby the properties. Such user-friendly features help property agents, agencies and developers to more effectively reach Indonesian buyers and investors, as well as bring Indonesian properties to buyers outside the country.
The revamp comes at an opportune time. Despite the downturn in the US and Eurozone, Indonesia’s economy continues to grow, recording a 2.9 percent growth quarter-on-quarter (QoQ). The positive market sentiment has attracted more local and foreign investments, recording a 24.3 and 21.1 percent rise in Q2 2011 respectively. To support continued growth, the Indonesian government has pledged to build new roads and expand airports and ports.
The robust economy is even better news for Rumah.com. “The response so far to Rumah.com by Indonesian developers, agents and advertisers has completely exceeded our expectations. We’ve also seen a 53 percent growth in traffic to the website. Going forward, we are excited about the future of Rumah.com as well as the property sector there, which is growing rapidly,” stated Steve Melhuish, Group CEO, PropertyGuru Group.
Meanwhile, the last year and a half has been a busy and successful period for PropertyGuru. The company has expanded from just one website in one country to a presence in 10 countries. It operates five leading websites in Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia and Thailand and has partner property portals in Hong Kong, India, Australia, Macau, China and Vietnam.
