Oct. 27, 2011 - PRLog -- The founders of the museum, Shelly and Donald Rubin, have just recently donated $25 million into the museum and appointed Patrick Sears as Chief Executive.

This exhibit is also called a “Mirror of the Buddha” and depicts Indian style “shari” art where they use intricate design styles and delicate colors. These are not oil on canvas paintings, nor could you strictly call them contemporary canvas oil paintings.

There are numerous famous museums and galleries where you can see contemporary art displayed. These museums are all over the country from the West coast, such as Scottsdale, Arizona and San Francisco, California, to of course the East coast such as the Museum of Modern Art in NY City as well as other smaller but very prestigious museums and galleries.

In some locations, you will see only displays of canvas artwork. While in others you may see displays of all kinds such as sculptures or even video displays. The Rubin museum does not specialize in only canvas paintings or canvas oil paintings but has a variety of artistic displays. Their focus on Himalayan art is to educate the modern day public about this ancient culture rich in history and to bring the past and present together in a very beautiful and artful way.

In some cases there may be sectional artwork, where an image is displayed over panels and some of these can cover an entire wall. These type of sectional paintings are popular by more contemporary artists and there are many emerging who specialize in Himalayan art.

In some cases, sectional artwork is not used, and other types of expression. An initial foray by the Rubin museum into contemporary art was done in 2010 when they launched a display called “Grain of Emptiness - Buddhism inspired Contemporary Art”.

On October 22nd, they will also be hosting an adult sleepover at the museum and will have dream interpreters to wake the guests in the morning.

Whether your taste runs to ancient works of art and sculptures of ideological heroes or to hand-painted oil on canvas paintings in a more sleek and modern style, I am sure all art lovers can agree that an appreciation for the aesthetic wavelength and an appreciation for others’ taste in art, even if it is not your own, is an important element to diversifying the artistic community.
