Oct. 27, 2011 - PRLog -- Seaside & Salinas, CA. – October 26, 2011 – The holiday tradition continues!  Each holiday season, Boys & Girls Clubs of Monterey County (BGCMC) selects over 100 BGCMC Members and their immediate family to “sponsor” for the holidays.  The program, which begins on October 25th and continues through the holidays, gives individuals and businesses of the community an opportunity to brighten the holiday season for kids who need it most.  Each “sponsor” is given the name of one or more children as well as a list of the items to be purchased. When the shopping is done, the unwrapped items are dropped off at the Seaside Clubhouse by December 12th, to be wrapped.

In addition to “Adopting-a-Family”, supporters may also make a monetary donation of any amount that will be put into the Holiday Fund. Volunteers are also needed in Santa’s Workshop for gift wrapping.  Despite these tough economic times, the community always steps forward by giving where they can.  In 2010, over 120 local families were able to celebrate the holiday season thanks to Adopt-a-Family participants.

For more information about Adopt-a-Family or to volunteer to gift wrap, visit www.bgcmc.org and click on the Adopt-a-Family icon or call 831-394-5171 and ask for the Adopt-a-Family Coordinator.
