The Philharmonic goes beyond the music with the help of Waukesha Mayor Jeff Scrima, who will be reciting letters and speeches from WWI and WWII between musical selections. With his narration of letters written by Waukesha native soldiers and well known speeches from world leaders during the world war era, the audience travels back in time not only through music, but through words. In addition, Maestro Alexander Platt will be leading a free pre-concert discussion at 2pm at the Dorothy Goff Frisch Recital Hall at Shattuck on the music to be heard at the concert. Speaking of the concert ahead, Platt states, “As we are musically spending this season in France, it seems right and proper that we should plant our feet firmly on French soil as we recount some of the most critical moments of the Allied sacrifice in both World Wars through music and words.” Tickets for “Salute to Our Veterans” are available online at www.wisconsinphilharmonic.org or by calling 262-547-1858. Ticket prices vary upon seating at $25-$35 for adults and $15-$25 for students.
