Fertility Preservation Network Approves 100 Patients for Financial Assistance Program

Program greatly extends access to Fertility Preservation services

Oct. 27, 2011 - PRLog -- ReproTech, Ltd., a cryobank specializing in long-term storage of human reproductive tissue (sperm, eggs, embryos and ovarian and testicular tissue), recently approved its 100th patient (of 2011) for its Financial Assistance Program for Cancer Patients, Verna’s Purse.  The Verna’s Purse program provides significantly discounted long-term storage fees for qualified patients storing or transferring cryopreserved reproductive tissue specimens to one of ReproTech’s three facilities in Florida, Minnesota and Nevada.

ReproTech, Ltd., strives to make Fertility Preservation services available to all individuals who are facing fertility threatening treatment, and is proud to offer a generous financial assistance program to patients faced with economic challenges, particularly at a time when it is hardest to handle. More information on Verna’s Purse, including criteria and patient applications, may be found at http://reprotech.com/about/information/vernas-purse.html.

“ReproTech is pleased that the Verna’s Purse program is being utilized by such a large number of cancer patients” says Brent Hazelrigg, CEO of ReproTech, Ltd.  “Our goal was to be able to hit the century mark for 2011 recipients of the program.  Hitting this mark with two months left in the year shows that our awareness campaigns for Fertility Preservation are finding their targets.  As we state on our website, Verna would have liked nothing more than to be able to reach into her purse, one more time, and offer some help.  ReproTech is happy to be able to do just that.”

According to the American Cancer Society, 140,000 men and women of childbearing age are newly diagnosed with cancer each year. There often is a small window of time for them to preserve their fertility; therefore, access to cryopreservation services is extremely important. Both the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) and American Society of Reproductive Medicine (ASRM) recommend the education of oncology patients about the options available to preserve their fertility.

ReproTech, Ltd.’s Fertility Preservation Network is comprised of top fertility centers around the U.S. and Caribbean. This growing network of centers provides much needed fertility preservation services to cancer patients prior to the initiation of oncology treatments. The Network now includes members in 34 states and the Caribbean. ReproTech, Ltd. also offers a sperm banking by air kit, http://www.overnitemalekit.com, for males who may be unable to visit a clinic due to illness or location.

In addition to the Verna’s Purse Program, ReproTech participates in LiveSTRONG’s Sharing Hope Financial Assistance Programs, and offers discounted storage fees to active military personnel.
