eco International will proudly declare “I Recycle. Do you?” at their FREE electronics recycling event coming up on Saturday November 12th from 9am-2pm at eco International 200 Stage Road in Vestal, NY.
“This will be our last Saturday collection event of the year”, said Heather Palmer, eco International’
“Our goal is to keep electronics out of the landfills and to educate the community about responsible recycling,” said Palmer. “The EPA website indicates that there are 4 to 8 pounds of lead in computers and television CRT monitors. Printed circuit boards in computers, music players and other electronic gear contain toxic metals such as chromium, nickel and zinc. Plastics contain flame retardants which are extremely toxic and persist in the environment. If electronics are thrown in landfills, these toxins may leach into groundwater affecting your local community.”
Items that will be accepted at the event include: Computers, Monitors, Laptops, Printers, Scanners, Copiers, Televisions, VHS/DVD Players, Cell Phones, Gaming Systems, Servers, Wires/Cables, Hard Drives, Speakers, Small Kitchen Appliances, Stereos, and Cassette Players.
The community, including residents and businesses, is invited to visit their website or visit eco International on Facebook to find more details.
