The Aurora Zone adds six new Northern Lights hunting dates in 2012

More and more people make 2012 the year they see the Northern Lights

Oct. 26, 2011 - PRLog -- Upon nearly selling out five months in advance on trips to Nellim, Finland, Northern Lights specialist The Aurora Zone has responded to unprecedented demand for its Aurora hunting trips by adding six departure dates to this unique corner of Finnish Lapland.

Managing Director, Alistair McLean, says: “There’s been so much publicity surrounding NASA’s prediction that the next few winters will witness the best Northern Lights for decades – we’ve experienced record demand for our Aurora hunting trips. With most dates filling up months in advance, we’ve added six additional trips to cater for the number of people wanting to travel next winter.”

The Aurora Zone has added additional departure dates on its Aurora Quest and Lights Over Lake Inari hunting itineraries to Nellim, Finland. Group sizes are restricted to seven and 16 people respectively and both trips are designed to maximise the chances of seeing the Northern Lights in a virtually light-pollution free destination.  There is also limited availability across most other Aurora Zone trips and further dates may potentially be added.

Aurora Quest: Nellim, Finland – from £1,645 pp with The Aurora Zone*
Journey to Nellim, Finland on this four-day Aurora Quest with husky-sledding, snowmobiling and a visit to a reindeer farm, where low levels of light pollution provide the perfect conditions for seeing the Lights, and make the village one of the best-kept secrets in Scandinavia. This trip also includes two nights of Aurora hunting in terrain-equipped, heated minibuses led by native Laplanders using advanced geophysical forecasts and local Lappish knowledge to find the perfect viewing points. Stay in an apartment at the family-owned Wilderness Hotel and have your choice of room with private sauna or traditional wood burning stove.  (Apartment upgrade costs from £55 pppn).
New dates:  23 Jan | 02 Feb | 18 Mar

Aurora Adventure over Lake Inari: Nellim, Finland – from £1,375 pp with The Aurora Zone*
Starting 250 km north into the Arctic Circle, this trip challenges explorers with a range of activities – including husky-sledding, snowmobiling and ice fishing – and rewards them with some of the best locations for viewing the Aurora. Stay at the Wilderness hotel and spend a night at the Aurora Camp on Lake Inari, where zero light pollution makes it the perfect place to see the Lights. Extend your stay for a night or two and stay in a glass igloo, where you can watch for the Aurora and stare out at the universe.  (Glass igloo costs from £275 pppn).
New dates:  12 Jan | 27 Feb (SOLD OUT) | 08 Mar

*Based on two sharing, all packages include flights (London), transfers, B&B accommodation, specified meals and appropriate cold-weather clothing for the duration of each trip. Winter activities, such as dog-sledding, snowmobile safaris and reindeer visits, are available for all trips and are included where stipulated. Trips depart between late November and late March. Group size varies between four and 20 members; over 18s only.  Tailor-made itineraries are also available for groups of four or more, including family groups of all ages.
