Magic Auto Center Sued by Los Angeles Lemon Law Attorney for Backdating Vehicle Purchase Contracts

Lawsuit filed in Los Angeles County Superior Court against Tarzana, California car dealership "Magic Auto Center" alleging that Magic Auto Center violated the California lemon law and backdated vehicle purchase contracts.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

PRLog (Press Release) - Oct. 25, 2011 - Los Angeles lemon law attorney Michael R. Vachon, Esq. announces the September 20, 2011 filing of Blas, et al. v. Magic Auto Center of Reseda, et al. (Los Angeles County Superior Court Case No. BC469864). In this lawsuit, Plaintiffs Pedro and Esteban Blas (who are residents of L.A. County), assert claims under the California lemon law and other California consumer protection statutes against the Los Angeles County car dealership Magic Auto Center, which has multiple locations in Tarzana, California.

The Plaintiffs are claiming that Magic Auto Center sold them two accident-damaged vehicles, and backdated the purchase contract for the second one.

“Backdating” means that the dealership canceled the first purchase contract (usually claiming that no bank was willing to finance the loan) and then had the buyer sign a subsequent purchase contract that is dated on the same date as the original contract.  Backdating results in the purchaser being charged secret, undisclosed, and illegal finance charges.

Although backdating does not violate California lemon law, Pedro and Esteban Blas and the Los Angeles lemon law attorney who represents them have filed the backdating claims in the Blas v. Magic Auto Center Los Angeles County Superior Court lawsuit as a class action on behalf of all other Los Angeles, California residents who also had their purchase contracts backdated.

The Los Angeles County Superior Court has not yet made any determinations of the merits of Plaintiffs' allegations, and Magic Auto Center has not yet been found guilty of violating the California lemon law, or any other applicable law.  Magic Auto Center's guilt or innocence will be determined by the Los Angeles County Superior Court when it issues a judgement in the above-titled lawsuit.
