On September 13th, All Seasons Homecare caregiver, Virlyn Johnson clocked into her eight-hour shift at Nancy’s home at 11pm to find her client asleep. She woke Nancy, reminding her to check sugar levels, to which Nancy refused, and then conceded to do so in fifteen minutes. She said she was tired.
Virlyn, knowing irritability can be a mild symptom of insulin reaction, waited exactly fifteen minutes and went back in to find Nancy incoherent - a severe symptom of insulin reaction. She immediately dialed 911. The paramedics came quickly and tested Nancy’s blood sugar levels to find it at 20 - near comatose - and took Nancy immediately to the hospital.
Nancy would not be alive today if it wasn’t for the quick actions of her caregiver, Virlyn. All Seasons Homecare holds the safety and well-being of clients as their top priority and this is a perfect example of their purpose: to recognize the symptoms and take the actions required to save lives.
Virlyn’s life-saving actions were rewarded with an all-expenses paid family trip to Monterey Bay, including tickets to the world-class aquarium. “We wanted to reward Virlyn with something that is a priority to her - time with her family,” said All Seasons Homecare, Lou Ann Mowry.
All Seasons Homecare is dedicated to making a difference in the care and quality of its client’s lives and only employs the most qualified, certified nursing assistants, home care aids and experienced caregivers. The proof, as they say, is in the pudding.
