Oct. 25, 2011 - PRLog -- RALEIGH, NC -- The Carolinas Chapter of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation (CFF) announces the “Top of the Triangle”, a program designed to give tomorrow’s leaders an opportunity to interact with and learn from today’s top leaders in the triangle business world.  Top of the Triangle (TOT) spotlights an elite group of 15 young professionals who are emerging leaders within their organizations and also have a passion for community service.  For 10 weeks, TOT participants are using their talent, compassion and leadership qualities to further the mission of the CFF.

TOT program participants will have an opportunity to build relationships with fellow members, corporate leaders, entrepreneurs, and leaders in cystic fibrosis research and development. They will also be mentored on the importance of community service in corporate leadership and be responsible for raising funds for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.

“I believe to make a difference, it starts with you and deciding that you want to be an instrument of change, said Jason Horn, a TOT honoree.  “The Top of the Triangle program will provide me with an opportunity to develop skills to increase my effectiveness when it comes to philanthropic ideas that I want to pursue.”

At the kick-off event on September 8, participants heard from highly regarded triangle business leaders about why it is essential to their professional success and that of the community to give back.

“Making a difference in the lives of those with a life-threatening disorder requires commitment and support on many levels, but effective leadership is ultimately the key,” said Nicoa Dunne, President and Chief Relationship Rover of Roving Coach International (RCI), who spoke to TOT participants at the kick-off event.

RCI gave a $10,000 in-kind donation in the form of The Roving Coach Experience™, sessions to empower and engage TOT participants during the program in the areas of career development, goal achievement, and fundraising success.

Other top business leaders participating in the program include Alexander Macris, Donna Cheek, Cathy Reed, Domenica Santoro, Emilia Diamant, Lauren Temple, Jeremy Sabo, Jason Horn, Sue Anne Lewis, Evan Pike, Naina Bhasin, Matthew  Boone, Susan Clark, Tomas Navratil, Hannah Suh. Business leaders including Cat Lineberry of Sunrise Consulting, Christy Shaffer of Hatteras Venture Partners and Keith Stoneback are some of the key corporate leaders who are supporting the event with participants or nominees or providing mentoring.

The program culminates at the TOT finale on November 18, 2011. During the event, the CFF will formally recognize the most involved and compassionate participants for their accomplishments, and will name the “Top of the Top” participants.  Sponsors of TOT Triangle include Sparians, Urban Food Group, Tyler’s Taproom, Blackwell Real Estate Management and Mass Mutual Insurance.

About Cystic Fibrosis
Cystic fibrosis (CF) is a chronic and fatal genetic disease affecting approximately 30,000 children and young adults in the United States.  CF substantially impairs respiratory and digestive functions, making the simple acts of eating and breathing a challenge.  The average life expectancy of someone with CF is 37.  There is no cure.  As children suffering from cystic fibrosis grow older, they become more vulnerable to life-threatening lung infections.  That is why we need your help today to fund the research necessary to find a cure and provide hope to the thousands of patients struggling with CF.

About the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation
Established in 1955, The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation is a nonprofit organization dedicated to developing new drugs, improving the quality of life of CF sufferers, and eventually finding a cure for this disease. CFF scientists discovered the gene that causes Cystic Fibrosis and developed four FDA-approved therapies that are now routine treatments.  Nearly 90 cents of every dollar donated to TOT will be used to fund landmark CF research.  Through unique fundraising events like Top of the Triangle we can give the children and adults with CF the quality of life and future they deserve.
