Sutter Pacific Medical Foundation Supplements Breast Care Services in Sonoma
with Addition of New Surgical Oncologist

(Santa Rosa, Oct. 25, 2011) — Sutter Pacific Medical Foundation, part of the Sutter Health network, announced today that Elizabeth A. Peralta, MD, a surgical oncologist, has joined its roster of physicians who are part of Sutter Medical Group of the Redwoods. Dr. Peralta’s office is located at 3883 Airway Drive in Santa Rosa and she can be contacted at (707) 521-7766.

Dr. Peralta will be treating patients with breast cancer or at high risk for breast cancer, and she offers breast conservation, mastectomy, and oncoplastic procedures.

Dr. Peralta is board-certified in general surgery by the American Board of Surgery. She received her medical degree from the University of California, Irvine College of Medicine, and completed a surgical oncology fellowship at City of Hope National Medical Center in Duarte, Calif.

Before coming to SPMF, Dr. Peralta taught surgery as an associate professor at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine in Springfield, Ill. As a visiting professor in China, she also taught at the Second Clinical College at Lanzhou University. She holds regional and state appointments in breast cancer, cervical cancer, bioethics and blood bank agencies.

Dr. Peralta has won a number of medical awards, including the American Medical Association’s Physician’s Recognition Award with Commendation; the Leonard Tow Humanism in Medicine Award from the Healthcare Foundation of New Jersey; the University of California, Irvine’s J. Gordon Hatfield Award for Excellence in Surgery and the UC Irvine’s Distinguished Achievement Award in Pathology.

Since 2008, she has pursued national breast cancer research, including current projects funded by the National Institutes of Health/National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine, the William E. McElroy Foundation, and the Southern Illinois University Breast Cancer Research Fund.
