Oct. 25, 2011 - PRLog -- The beach…  …is easily one of the summer's most sought after attractions for any tourist on vacation.

The same can easily be said of any local on 'stay'-cation.  This is when a free education courtesy of The Vacation Channels can come in handy for tourists and locals alike.  Most Virginians and visitors think first of VA Beach as our East Coast means of hitting the beach. However, there are other beach treasures that everyone should know of.  Let us introduce you to Buckroe Beach and Park.

Buckroe Beach borders the Chesapeake Bay, right here in Hampton City, and offers eight beautiful sandy acres of family friendly summertime fun!  These gorgeous eight acres have certified lifeguards on duty daily from Memorial Day through Labor Day. Parents and guardians alike can rest easy with that extra piece of mind while children swim and play in the calm currents of the bay.

In the summer days and months visitors can dance and groove their nights away to the sounds of the Sunday night "Groovin' by the Bay" concert series hosted on the stage pavilion right by the bay.  On Tuesday nights POMOCO sponsors a Family Movie Series for big kids, kids and everyone in between. It's a great opportunity to grab your beach blanket and enjoy a movie under the stars with friends, or that special someone.

A visitor should also keep in mind the great fishing opportunities at the Buckroe Fishing Pier.  Here you can fish the vast variety of fish living in the Chesapeake Bay.  It is a $2 admission with a Virginia Saltwater Fishing License.
Some of it's amazing attractions include:

•   A playground for children
•   Picnic shelters with tables and grills (Available by reservation)
•   Convenient fishing right on the pier
•   Restroom Facilities
•   Great walking and bike paths
•   Spacious car park areas
•   Beach chair, Umbrella, Kayak and Paddlecraft Rentals

The beach and park are open from 7AM to sunset daily and Park Rangers are on site year-round.  So, the next beautiful day that comes your way don't sit and wonder what there is to do, get out to Buckroe Beach and enjoy the calming, relaxing pull of the sands and water that Hampton Roads has to offer.
