Oct. 24, 2011 - PRLog -- Visitors to the American Craft Show NYC and Contemporary Art Fair NYC at the Javits Center, November 18, 19 and 20, will enjoy far more than 200 exhibits of jewelry, furniture, fashion, ceramics, glass, wood, metal, textiles, paintings, photography and sculpture. Attendees will see free craft and painting demonstrations and hear speakers on a range of subjects.

Renowned potter, Patricia Simmons, will show how she creates animals from clay and Nick Rosato, a wood turner, will craft small objects like wine stoppers. Speakers like artist Jennifer Bakalar will address how art and do-it-yourself techniques influence and impact crafts. Bakalar’s charming Piñatas, made expressly for the craft show and art fair, will decorate the exhibit space. Sculptor Leah Poller will bring her Unmade Bed project to the floor.

Artists will address practical, intellectual and esoteric subjects. David Pollack will reinterpret method acting and conceptual photography; George Sakal will discuss his theories of modern art and creativity and Jerelyn Hanrahan will describe the steps to achieve her multimedia, sculpture and works-on-paper for both public art projects and gallery exhibitions. On the practical side, Shen will advise artists and artisans how to market themselves and Natasha Wescoat how they can use social media to meet collectors.
