Oct. 24, 2011 - PRLog -- The Association of Producers and Exporters of Nicaragua (APEN, for its acronym in Spanish), with the support of PRONicaragua, the official investment promotion agency of Nicaragua, organized the launching of the Inter-American Investment Corporation’s (IIC) program, FINPYME ExportPlus, whose objective is to benefit approximately 200 small and medium enterprises (SME) through technical workshops designed aimed at developing and strengthening export capabilities.

FINPYME ExportPlus, whose theme is “Opportunities and Solutions for Growth”, will be carried out with funds from the Republic of Korea. The program will focus primarily on offering SMEs practical training in order to improve Nicaragua’s access to the main export markets and incorporate the different economic sectors of the country.

The event was presided over by representatives of the Government of Nicaragua and the Republic of Korea, the Central Bank of Nicaragua (BCN, for its acronym in Spanish), the IIC, APEN and PRONicaragua.

During the event, guest speakers highlighted the importance of promoting these types of initiatives that foster the growth of the most dynamic sectors of the Nicaraguan economy. Additionally, they applauded the efforts made by the parties involved in promoting and developing this program in Nicaragua.

PRONicaragua, in turn, with its new role as foreign trade facilitator, will be leading this effort along with APEN by encouraging SMEs to participate in this initiative that provides direct technical assistance aimed at disseminating basic export knowledge so that these companies can increase and diversify both their products and their markets. Up to ten workshops will be carried out between November 2011 and the end of 2012.

The FINPYME ExportPlus program began in 2009 in Guatemala as a pilot program with excellent results. Currently, the program is extending to other countries in the Central American and Caribbean region, such as El Salvador, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Haiti, the Bahamas, Barbados, Guyana and Suriname.
