Producer David Stever forms Cinder Path Productions and acquires NIGHTWATCHERS script.

Writer-Producer David Stever (COFFIN, SAFEHOUSE) has acquired the rights to the supernatural horror script, NIGHTWATCHERS, from writer David Sakmyster. The project will be developed through Stever’s Cinder Path Productions and is slated to film next summer. George Maranville (COFFIN, TAN LINES, SAM STEELE) is attached to direct.
NIGHTWATCHERS is the story of a single mother living in a trailer park who must protect her autistic son and the other residents from deadly supernatural forces during a night of terror. “I’m really excited about developing this script as a feature. David Sakmyster wrote a very original, imaginative, and scary script that will be a real challenge for our actors and production team,” said Stever. “It has all of the elements of a great scifi horror movie, a mother trying to protect her son, fear of the dark, fear of the unknown, plus some truly terrifying creatures!”

David Sakmyster is an award-winning author and screenwriter.  He has over two dozen short stories and five novels published, including Crescent Lake, a horror novel from Crossroad Press and The Pharos Objective, book one in a series of psychic thrillers from Variance Publishing.  He has written several screenplays, all of which placed highly in screenwriting contests. He was a Nicholls Award quarterfinalist, a Scriptapalooza Finalist, 3rd Place in the Slamdance Horror Contest, and won a Runner-Up prize in the Expo Screenplay Competition.

Stever also writes and produces for Spencer Johnson’s Skyrocket Productions and produced the indie horror film, COFFIN, starring Kevin Sorbo and Bruce Davison. COFFIN is in distribution through Artist View Entertainment and will be repped at MIPCOM and AFM.

Through Cinder Path and in association with Skyrocket, Stever also has several other projects in development. The scifi thriller UNIT 315 from writer Mark Garbett (MIDNIGHT MOVIE, THE SEAMSTRESS) and the indie thriller, BLOOD LAKE, written by Stever.
