MTI Launches MTISHOWS™ iPhone App Offering Consumers A Theatrical Encyclopedia Of Musicals

MTI iPhone app offers consumers the ability to locate productions anywhere, anytime. The first ever app of its kind available to download for free

Oct. 24, 2011 - PRLog -- New York, NY –Music Theatre International (MTI) has created a new, innovative musical theatre app for the iPhone and iPad that will be available for download starting today. The MTIshows™ app is a ground-breaking one-of-kind reference for musical theatre. No app has done this before.

The MTIshows™ app will feature information on the over 300 musicals licensed by MTI including: Annie, The Music Man, Rent, West Side Story, Les Miserables, Avenue Q and most recently Legally Blonde: The Musical. Users of the app can search and browse hundreds of musical titles from the MTI collection’s including MTI Broadway Junior, Disney Musicals, Theatre for Young Audiences and School Editions.  Each show has its own page that features a full synopsis on the show, information and bios on the musical’s authors and song samples from the show.

Other features include the “Productions Near Me” tab where consumers can find MTI shows that are playing nearby by date, show title or zip code. Users can also customize their results by “bookmarking” their favorite musicals.  Once a show is bookmarked, users can easily search for nearby productions of that particular show.

The app also includes a feature for MTI News.  This connects the user with the latest articles, new show announcements and news posts from the MTI Marquee.
“Our new innovative mobile strategy is another way for our customers to promote their musical productions, and it also allows us to raise awareness of the shows in our catalog by making show information accessible anywhere,” said Drew Cohen, President of MTI.  “This is an exciting step for MTI and we are proud to offer the first app of its kind to the theatrical community.”
As part of a Facebook and YouTube campaign to announce the app, MTI will create webisodes to highlight and introduce the app and its features. The webisodes will feature entertaining characters from many well-known musicals that are featured in MTI’s catalogue of shows.
The app is free and can be found by searching the keyword: MTIshows.  It can also be accessed at:  http://itunes.apple.com/app/mtishows/id470971988?mt=8
