Annual Eureka Springs Food and Wine Weekend Menus Announced

Wine tastings and delicacies - from Seafood Vol au Vent to Pot au Feu, organic red wines to delicate whites - make the weekend look mighty tasty!

Oct. 24, 2011 - PRLog -- (EUREKA SPRINGS, AR)- Eureka Springs celebrates an annual tradition November 11-13 with Food and Wine Weekend. Friday and Saturday night dinners and Sunday brunch pair fine cuisine with matching wines to create a special dining experience.

Cottage Inn Restaurant, on US 62. 2.5 miles West of downtown Eureka Springs and Autumn Breeze Restaurant, 190 Huntsville Rd (Hwy 23) have announced their menus, and invite diners to make reservations now to be sure a of a seating.

Linda Hager, owner and chef of Cottage Inn, said her Friday night dinner, starting at 6 p.m., features wines from the Bell Winery in Napa, California, including Bell Sparkling, Big Guy White, Pinot Noir and Claret. She will pair these wines with a tomato bisque with Basil Swirl, and cheese crackers; a salad course of spring greens with beets, feta cheese and toasted walnuts; an entrée of roasted pork tenderloin with shitake mushroom risotto; and profiteroles –small chocolate-dipped cream puffs filled with pastry cream—for dessert, served with coffee.

On Saturday, the 6 p.m. dinner features La Playa Wines from Chile, exploring the Sauvingon Blanc Block Selection, a Chardonnay, Loud River Roaring red and Axel Cabernet Sauvignon.  Corn chowder, a salad of avocado and hearts of palm is followed by slow roasted salmon, and then Pot au Feu, a classic French beef dish. Brazo de Gitano--sponge cake filled with dulce de leche—comes with coffee as dessert.
Cost of either dinner is $65.00 per person, inclusive of tax & gratuity.

Brunch is served 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. November 13, with a wine flight of 3 tastes for $10.  Diners may choose between seafood Newburg omelet, spinach and feta cheese omelet or bacon and Cheddar omelet; all are served with fresh biscuits and roasted potatoes. The cost is $12.50 per person. Reservations may be made by calling 253-5282.

Autumn Breeze, will present a wine tasting, Splash in the Glass, for only $7, available only with an entrée. The tastings will highlight either four organic red wines, or a selection of two Rieslings and two Gewurztraminers.

The regular dining menu will be available, and the weekend specials, which will include soup or salad and bread, are New York strip with European wild mushroom sauce, served with baked potato and asparagus spears for $26.95, and lobster, shrimp and scallop vol-au-vent, a seafood mélange served in creamy sherry sauce in puff pastry and accompanied by asparagus spears, $28.95.
