Follow on Google News | Columbia Southern University to Conduct GraduationMore than 2,200 graduates and guests are expected to travel to Orange Beach, Ala., for the Columbia Southern University (CSU) commencement ceremonies Friday, Oct. 21 at The Wharf Conference Center.
By: Anthony Cornealius Graduates of the online university, who hail from more than 30 states and several countries, are scheduled to attend the event which will feature two ceremonies. The morning graduate ceremony begins at 9 a.m. and the afternoon undergraduate ceremony will follow at 2 p.m. Keynote speaker will be Marilyn Hickey, founder and president of Marilyn Hickey Ministries, a non-profit humanitarian organization based in Denver. “The CSU Graduation Ceremony provides a very special opportunity for our students to connect with faculty members and staff who’ve helped them successfully reach their educational goals. Each graduation brings more graduates and guests which is a testament of the passion and dedication of our students,” said Robert Mayes, CSU president. Graduates and their guests are invited to attend an open house from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 20, to meet faculty and staff and view the university’s facility in Orange Beach. Group tours will be given and attendees can purchase CSU paraphernalia and learn more about the alumni association. CSU is one of the nation’s first completely online universities, developed to make educational opportunities more accessible for working adults. With a record enrollment of more than 28,000, the growing university offers numerous online degree and certificate programs in a variety of popular fields such as fire science, criminal justice, business administration, information technology, human resource management and occupational safety and health.
