Follow on Google News | Aflac Foundation Awards Grant to NCCSThe Aflac Foundation awarded a $20,000 grant to The National Children’s Cancer Society (NCCS) to help the NCCS’ Beyond the Cure Scholarship Program provide college scholarships to childhood cancer survivors for the 2012-2013 school year.
The National Children’s Cancer Society SAINT LOUIS, MO – The Aflac Foundation recently awarded a $20,000 grant to The National Children’s Cancer Society (NCCS). The grant will help the NCCS’ Beyond the Cure Scholarship Program provide college scholarships to childhood cancer survivors for the 2012-2013 academic year. The funds will be allocated to survivors in Georgia. The NCCS developed Beyond the Cure (BTC) to help childhood cancer survivors integrate the cancer experience into their lives. This includes educating survivors on the challenges that lie ahead and most importantly, to celebrate survivorship. The Scholarship Program was established to assist childhood cancer survivors achieve their long-term goals. The program supports survivors who have demonstrated the ability to overcome the difficult challenges of cancer with determination and motivation. For them, cancer has strengthened their character, intensified their love of life, and instilled a sense of duty to truly make a difference in the lives of others. “We are honored to receive this grant from the Aflac Foundation,” Aflac is very committed to community service with philanthropy and volunteerism being an integral part of its corporate culture.
