After a catastrophic car accident days before Thanksgiving in 2005, Mark and Marsha Burleson were faced with the decision of bearing in mind organ donation from their 16 year old daughter. Without knowledge hat their daughter had already decided in March of that year, by placing that little red heart upon her drivers license that her life would keep on giving. Kasey Burleson’s generosity and foresight changed four lives, including those of a Lima woman who received a kidney and Kasey’s pancreas and an Arizona man who received the other kidney.
With over 9,000 toys collected over the past three years, The Burleson Family distributes all donations to organizations that work with children in need. Participating organizations include The Salvation Army, Nationwide Children's Hospital, St Stephens Community Center and Fire Station 27 on Smokey Row. Kasey and her family carried a new bag of toys there each year for children in need.
New toys, articles of clothing or monetary donations may be dropped off Saturday October 22, 2011 between 11 a.m. and 5 p.m. in the Target parking lot 6000 Sawmill Road Dublin, Ohio 43017.
For those who miss the date, a collection box will be placed at the Worthington Recreation Center, 345 E. Wilson Bridge Road, through November and most of December.
The Burleson’s are available to answer questions or arrange to pick up new toys and new clothing for those who call them at 614-204-7772.
