Linda Fogg Phillips, Co-author of Facebook for Parents Speaks at St. Mary’s Academy

Oct. 20, 2011 - PRLog -- What:    Linda Fogg Phillips, co-author of Facebook for Parents, will answer the top 25 questions parents have about Facebook.  Linda, a mom with eight kids, ages 11 to 26, co-wrote the book with her brother, psychologist and instructor of Stanford’s Persuasive Technology Lab, Dr. BJ Fogg.  Building on their research and “Facebook for Parents” class at Stanford University Linda will guide parents through the good and the bad of Facebook.  Her “how to think” about Facebook approach offers more than “what to do.”  She will equip parents with the tools to deal with whatever comes next – both as your child gets older and as Facebook evolves.   In addition to teaching parents how to protect your child’s safety, Linda will also teach how to use Facebook in the right way to teach kids vital skills for their future success.  These skills include:  professional skills, leadership skills, learning skills, identity skills and relationship skills.

Who:     Linda Fogg Phillips and her brother, psychologist Dr. BJ Fogg of Stanford’s Persuasive Technology Lab, taught a series of classes at Stanford in 2009 to help parents learn more about Facebook.  They measured the impact of their curriculum and found clear benefits in all areas they measured.
