004 Develops Flight Telemetry iPhone App for Horizon Hobby’s Spektrum Radio Brand

Oct. 20, 2011 - PRLog -- Champaign, Illinois, USA – October 20, 2011 - 004 Technologies USA, Inc., the Champaign, Illinois based mobile application development firm is pleased to announce the release of the STi Flight Telemetry iPhone App by Spektrum Radios, an exclusive brand of Horizon Hobby, Inc., an international developer, marketer and distributor of radio control (RC) hobby products, model trains and a wide range of educational, toy and other hobby products.

Spektrum contracted 004 in August 2011 to assist in the development and completion of the STi Telemetry iPhone App.  004 was responsible for completing the app’s backend operation including but not limited to writing code necessary to communicate between the app and Spektrum 2.4 GHz radio systems via the STi Telemetry Interface dongle.  The dongle is the fundamental accessory that enables a user to monitor his or her aircraft’s telemetry on an iPad, iPhone, or iPod Touch.  Additionally, 004 refined the app’s user interface to align with and take advantage of Apple’s Inc. user interface guidelines.

A spokesman from the Spektrum team added, “this was our first venture involving Apple in developing a consumer product. 004 was instrumental in working through the unknown and aiding the Spektrum team to bring a revolutionary product to the radio control market.  The STi app is a complicated system involving integration of data from the STi interface using the Spektrum Air Telemetry system, and 004 was able to meet all technical requirements of the STi app laid out on our target schedule.  It was a pleasure working with 004 from start to finish of this project.”

The app is available in the app store under the name “Spektrum STi”.
