Mobibo (a short form of Mobile Billboard) is a free smartphone app available in the Apple Store and Android Market. Once downloaded, it will alert the user when they are in close physical proximity to one of their exclusive retailer discounts. For simply viewing the deal, the user is paid 25 cents. They can then choose to redeem the discount, but are paid regardless.
However, with a charitable motivation, Mobibo will be alerting their users and directing them to a cause, encouraging them to make a donation in the name of charity.
The team at Mobibo has set up notifications around Metro Detroit to alert users to the charitable cause of the month. Upon viewing the alert, the user will then be directed to the charity’s website, where they will be encouraged to make a donation if they so choose.

Users will be paid as usual for viewing the charity alerts, same as they would with any other alerts, courtesy of Gravy Network, the company responsible for Mobibo. The initiative launched in October, during Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and will continue with other charities being featured in coming months.
