(KDS), a leading provider of online strategic professional development solutions for teachers, schools and districts,announced today that Dr. Elfreda W. Massiehas joined the company as Vice President of Client Services.

Dr. Massie will lead KDS’s long-term professional development projects with major school districts.  Reporting to the COO, Daniel C. Watts, she will work closely with districts to design and implement strategic professional development solutions tailored to their specific needs.  Dr. Massie will oversee program planning and onsite blended-model deployments, achieving to attaining measureableimpact on teacher practice andimprovingstudent achievement.

Dr. Massie has 29 years of experience in professional development, public school administration,curriculum and instruction. She began her career as a teacher in Baltimore County, MD.  Subsequently, she served as Director of Personnel Services and Deputy Superintendent in Baltimore County Public Schools, Associate Superintendent for Human Resources and Staff Development in Montgomery County Public Schools, MD, and Chief of Staff and Interim Superintendent of Schools in the District of Columbia Public Schools. She also served as an adjunct professor at Johns Hopkins University and Union Institute and University.

In the private sector, Dr. Massie served as Vice President for Strategic Partnerships for Catapult Learning,Chief Development Officer for Global Partnership Schools, Managing Director of the NTI Group, and Senior Vice President for Strategic Partnerships for Blackboard Connect.  She was Vice President for Professional Development and Vice President for Strategic Alliances for Harcourt Achieve, the global pre-K through adult educational publishing company.

Dr. Massie received her Ph.D. in Education Policy, Planning and Analysis from the University of Maryland, a Master’s of Education from Johns Hopkins University and a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from the University of Pittsburgh.
