New Poetry Book by Award Winning Author Christopher W. Boyden

Award Winning Poet Christopher W. Boyden releases debut poetry collection titled "Questions in the Balance."

Oct. 19, 2011 - PRLog -- Set to the poetic foot of iambic pentameter, the rhymes and rhythms of poet Christopher W. Boyden reinstates his literary accolades revealed his first collection of 73 original poems in his new book titled, Questions in the Balance.  Categorized by topics such as: Nature, love and romance, answers to the questions of thought, heaven, and our future as human beings, his poetry transcends the generations of age and barriers of culture, providing a universal appeal and attraction unique to his talent, indelible in its mental stimulation.

A wordsmith extraordinaire, Christopher W. Boyden writes as if he is conversing to a friend sitting on a sofa in his living room.  “The poem is almost the same as telling a story, but to a future listener,” he stated during a recent interview.  “Since I have the luxury of so much advance time and thinking, I can work to make the sounds, meter and rhyme flow with a musical quality in a way meant to captivate the audience’s attention and also easily follow the story line,” Boyden said.   “He enables his words to dance off the pages into the reader’s mind,” quoted Gary Sorkin of Pacific Book Review.

Explaining the mechanics of his genius, Christopher W. Boyden said, “Concerning the process I utilize to create a poem, I start with a life experience or something I have realized or learned which is a message to me, basically.”  He continued, “I then begin, in my audio graphic mind, with close to a photographic memory, to encapsulate in words into many sub-images, which make up the story line, with one or two images being developed and presented per stanza.  In that way, the poem stays on focus overall, without becoming too cluttered or confusing, so the reader can actually feel, if not also visualize, what I was experiencing at the time of the event.”

This is certainly self-evident within his work.  He provides an entertaining poetic story while at all times respecting the intelligence of his reader, thus affording him the respect of a master poet.  He states, “The pentameter’s cadence, I believe, is both the easiest for the ear to follow and the most versatile of all meters, while still allowing for a wide variety of subject matter.”  This explains his use of such a familiar poetic style.

Questions in the Balance is an ideal gift book to give to anyone for any occasion, as it is a book that can be picked up, read, and then placed down until a future time; as each poem is merely a page or two in length.  Published by Xulon Press, Questions in the Balance is available online at Amazon and Barns & Noble.
