Rushworth Kidder to Keynote Annual Conference of Southern Association of Independent Schools

Institute for Global Ethics’ president and founder will address teaching ethics in independent schools and how collaborative efforts can increase effectiveness of ethical education

Oct. 19, 2011 - PRLog -- ROCKPORT, Maine – Rushworth Kidder, president of the Institute for Global Ethics (IGE), will deliver the keynote address at the annual conference of the Southern Association of Independent Schools (SAIS) in Atlanta on October 23, 2011. The talk, “Good Kids, Tough Choices: Teaching Real Ethics in a Virtual World,” will address the ethical dilemmas educators and students face when confronted with choices between “right and right” values. The SAIS has a membership of more than 300 private schools.

Through its Ethical Literacy® Learning Community (http://ethical-literacy.org), the IGE has committed itself to encouraging students, teachers and school administrators to become more ethical while creating school environments that support both academic and ethical development. The Ethical Literacy® Learning Community has guided over 100 schools, in more than 20 states, Canada and Australia, toward ethical education.

The IGE is also part of a joint effort involving the National Association of Independent Schools (NAIS) and other organizations encouraging collaboration among schools to enhance the effectiveness of ethical education through well-planned and implemented programs. Also to be addressed by Dr. Kidder at the SAIS conference, this joint effort supporting ethical education as a collaborative effort is based on NAIS’ “Schools of the Future” research.
