Oct. 19, 2011 - PRLog -- Canton, CONNECTICUT – October 19, 2011 – Invata, a global provider of supply chain and facilities optimization, software and controls, today released the fourth in a series of expert videos from noted supply chain industry experts. As part of Invata’s commitment to supply chain education and information exchange, the company will be presenting expert commentary on key pressure points within the supply chain.

According to Ryan Sheehan, CEO of Invata, “Inventory management is a critical factor in balancing both enterprise costs and customer satisfaction. And it’s one of the key factors in maintaining a lean yet responsive organization that can respond quickly to changes in customer demand.” He added, “At Invata we are committed to building systems that look at factors that are both inside and outside the four walls – and take into account factors related to inventory, infrastructure, labor and transportation.”

In the fourth video of the series, Diamond Head Associates Founding Principal Ricki Ingalls reveals how network modeling can optimize inventory, lower costs and increase revenue. With network optimization, he notes, “companies can look at their inventory levels, create an optimized scenario and move that model to a network simulation where they will be able to evaluate order fulfillment performance, fill rates, costs and other factors that are important to the enterprise.”

Mr. Ingalls noted that while these days most supply chain organizations are simply focused on keeping costs low, it must be remembered that the end goal is to be profitable. While customer satisfaction and on-time delivery is integral to retaining customers and maintaining steady business, structural changes within the company should always be considered as a means of both saving and making money. “The world is dynamic,” Mr. Ingalls said, “and you can’t stay static in the process.”
