Oct. 18, 2011 - PRLog -- Town of Southeast, NY - Some of the area’s leading artists will be on hand Saturday, October 22 to display their artwork as well as create art “en plein air” inspired by the stunning castle and beautiful grounds of Fortune Ridge at Southeast, the region’s most exciting new neighborhood of single-family homes.

Fortune Ridge at Southeast in collaboration with the Putnam Arts Council is presenting “Live Art at the Castle,” a fun-filled afternoon of painting, live music and more for the entire family. The free event will be held Saturday, October 22 from 12 noon to 3 pm at the magnificent Castle and grounds of Fortune Ridge at Southeast, 150 Deans Corner Road, Brewster.  

Invited exhibitors and “on location” artists scheduled to participate include Eric Arctander, Laura Bianco, April DeMarco, Jeanne Demotses, Dr. Bernie Kessler, Sharon Nakazato, Heliodoro SantaColoma, David Small, Christopher Staples, Bernard Zeller, Susan Zoon and Joann  Zwolski.

“This unique collaboration with Fortune Ridge at Southeast has opened up a beautiful space for artists to work on location and connect with the community. We are very excited about exhibiting wonderful artwork on the grounds and in the historic Stone Castle of Fortune Ridge,” said Joyce Picone, Executive Director of the Putnam Arts Council.

“We are delighted to partner with the Putnam Arts Council in presenting this unique and exciting event that showcases some of the area’s finest artists in an incomparable setting with fun activities for the entire family,” said Chris Munch, Vice President of Fortune Home Builders, the developer of Fortune Ridge at Southeast.

“Live Art at the Castle” will also feature a “Fortune Hunt Tour” where children will explore the Castle grounds to gather “treasure” that can be used in an art project. A pianist will be on hand to play Broadway show tunes by George Gershwin, Richard Rodgers and others. The Castle was once the home of famous music publisher Max Dreyfus, who discovered and promoted Jerome Kern, George Gershwin, Richard Rodgers and Cole Porter. Free refreshments of apple cider, doughnuts and other fall treats will be served.

The “Live Art at the Castle” event is an excellent opportunity visit the Fortune Ridge Discovery Center in the Castle where they can see a presentation of Fortune Ridge’s five distinctive homes.
