Sunday, October 30, 2011

(Los Angeles, CA) – September 22, 2011 – The 14th Annual L.A. Cancer Challenge jump-starts the newest and hottest charity run series hitting Los Angeles’ streets this holiday season. The L.A. Holiday Cup features three of the top holiday-themed road races in Southern California: the L.A. Cancer Challenge (Halloween, October 30), the Santa Monica Gobble Wobble (Thanksgiving, November 26) and the 34th Annual Santa Monica – Venice Christmas Run (Christmas, December 10).

“We are honored to be a part of the L.A. Holiday Cup,” said Lisa Manheim, Director for the L.A. Cancer Challenge and the Hirshberg Foundation for Pancreatic Cancer Research. “It’s a historical moment in Southern California charity races and we’re proud to say that we are the leader in establishing a long run of the L.A. Holiday Cup.”

How to be the first L.A. Holiday Cup champion: Register to run all three races.  The runners with the fastest cumulative time (1 male, 1 female) will be declared champion in each category. Plus, five random winners will be selected from runners who have entered all three events. Winners will be announced on New Year’s Day, January 1, 2012. All participants will be entered into a random drawing for additional prizes. There is no additional registration cost to participate in the series.  Simply register for each event using the same name and email address. A finish time must be received for each event to qualify.

Train to be a winner: An eight-week complimentary training program sponsored by and held at Velocity Sports Performance is being offered in addition to valet parking and post-run refreshments with completed registration for the L.A. Cancer Challenge.

The L.A. Holiday Cup (www.LAHolidayCup.com) race champions will receive a free registration to all three Holiday Cup races in 2012, an athletic gear prize package and a full one-year membership at Velocity Sports Performance.

Held at the Veteran’s Administration Grounds, the 14th Annual L.A. Cancer Challenge (L.A.C.C.) is committed to raising awareness and funding for pancreatic cancer research.
