Oct. 18, 2011 - PRLog -- TMJ Hope, an information and support community for people with TMJ disorder and their families, is launching a fundraising campaign today to become a non-profit organization. This campaign includes a raffle of over 40 jaw friendly products and the unveiling of a brand new website to increase awareness and reach into the community.

TMJ disorder is a condition that affects an estimated 35 million Americans. Often difficult to diagnose, TMJ disorder causes pain in the jaw & face as well as difficulty in opening & closing the mouth. The symptoms can be acute or chronic & can cause serious disruption to the patient's life.

Stacy Stone, TMJ Hope's founder, knows about the devastating impact that TMJ disorder can have on a persons life. As a result of a dog attack, she went through 11 surgeries, a total joint replacement, and now suffers from chronic pain. Despite her own adversity, Stacy created TMJ Hope to support patients who were isolated and searching for a place to go where they felt understood. Since there is no walk, race, relay, or cure for TMJ disorder, there is a desperate need for awareness surrounding the condition.

Thanks to companies like Cuisinart, Pressure Positive, Violight, Sleep Matterzz, Face Caddy, Makura, Core Products, Cynthia Peterson PT, Chobani, Theracane, Heavenly Heat, and Bruder Healthcare, there are over 40 items to win in the raffle. Everything from books, to pillows, heating pads, blenders, and protein powder.

The fundraiser and raffle starting today are the first of many awareness campaigns that TMJ Hope has planned so that jaw pain patients no longer feel alone, and can find the support, information, and above all, HOPE that they so desperately need.
