Oct. 17, 2011 - PRLog -- And the "Best Speaker Award" goes to . . . Sharon Reuler for her presentation of "The Texas POA Primer ~ Tips for Working with Condominium and Homeowner Associations" at the 2010 Advanced Real Estate Law Course. Dallas attorney Sharon Reuler was surprised by the announcement made at the awards luncheon during the State Bar's 2011 Advanced Real Estate Law Course.

The award is given annually to the speaker who receives the highest marks from lawyers attending the previous year's course who evaluate the speakers. Sharon was one of 50 attorneys presenting papers at the 2010 Advanced Real Estate Law Course. This is the first time Sharon has received the award.

The Best Speaker Award is one of two Sharon received at the 2011 luncheon. The written article she co-presented at the 2010 Course also garnered a top award. If not the first, it is one of the few times that the two awards - Best Paper and Best Speaker - have been given to the same person in one year.

The Texas POA Primer ~ Tips for Working with Condominium and Homeowner Associations ~ is an updated and expanded version of the Primers Sharon presented at State Bar Courses in 1998 and 2001. The Primer's new features include 9 Steps to POA Decision-Making, a discussion of "power tripping" in the context of property owners associations, several sets of frequently-asked-questions, and a summary of Texas cases dealing with HOAs during the 2006-2009 period. Houston attorney Roy Hailey co-authored and co-presented The Texas POA Primer with Sharon.

In addition to presenting The Texas POA Primer in 2010, Sharon served on the planning committee for the 2010 and 2011 Advanced Real Estate Law Courses, and moderated the afternoon of presentations on common interest communities at both courses.

Sharon Reuler represents real estate developers state-wide in the creation, marketing, and operation of common interest communities, such as planned developments, town homes, and condominiums. Prior to focusing her practice on the development and declaring-control side of common interest projects, Sharon represented established community associations.
