Urogynecologist Lauri J. Romanzi, MD is participating in and making a presentation before the members of the committee to end fistula of the International Obstetric Fistula Working Group (IOFWG). The main objectives of this meeting are to: 1) Share technical updates on all aspects of fistula prevention, treatment and social reintegration;

UNFPA, working in partnership with IOFWG, assists governments in improving maternal health and one key initiative in this area is the Campaign to End Fistula.
Dr. Romanzi will also be traveling to the Ghana College of Physicians and Surgeons, in Accra for discussions on a proposed collaboration to develop a curriculum for urogynecology at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital.
Author of Plumbing and Renovations, a pelvic floor primer on pelvic floor disorders including hysteropexy and other operations for pelvic organ prolapse, urinary and fecal incontinence and Kegel exercises, Dr. Romanzi, is a board certified gynecologist who specializes in Urogynecology. She pioneered a minimally invasive technique of hysteropexy, a uterine prolapse surgery without hysterectomy, and is the first surgeon in Manhattan to perform the minimally invasive urethral sling procedure for urinary incontinence. Dr. Romanzi maintains her private practice in New York City and academic appointment as Clinical Associate Professor of Gynecology at The New York Presbyterian Hospital-Weill Cornell Medical College.
