Also in the news was the book written by prominent opposition leader Dr. Ykob, “Asseb Yeman Nat? Ye Ethiopia Yebahir Ber Tiyake” (“For Whom Does Assab Belong? Ethiopia’s claim for a sea outlet”), which seeks to justify that Ethiopia is the legitimate owner of Assab port. In the book, Dr. Yakob says that Eritrea’s secession from Ethiopia cannot be justified, since the former has always been a part of the latter. He also mentions that a historical relation exists between both countries.
Another important piece of news in the week was the announcement of former President of Cape Verde Pedro Verona Pires’ name for Mo Ibrahim Prize worth $5million.
