The Stardust Arts founded in 2009 by Cheryl Ehlers, as artist herself, has taught over 3,129 students in 17 schools since its inception and has fostered creativity and imagination in visual art while building self confidence in the students that "anything" is possible if you simply try “Art is a universal form of communication that spans the development of creativity in a child's mind”, stated Cheryl Ehlers, Art Instructor.. It needs to be tapped and exercised to be successful. Art is more than fun, it teaches spacial and visual development. Studies show that students perform better in school when they are offered art. The program has been sponsored by the prestigious Kenneth A Picerne Foundation, Oceanside Arts Commission, the City of Encinitas and the Mizel Family Foundation Community Grant Program, the Boys and Girls Clubs of Carlsbad, The Carlsbad Village Association, The San Diegito Womens Club and the Stardust Angels, a private sponsorship. It achieved recognition in only one year by the California State Assembly and the San Diego Board of Supervisors for its commitments to youth. The program is one of only a few visual art instruction programs that services the undeserved and in need children in North County San Diego, Ca. In the Encinitas community, Chris Ann Sarver of the Encinitas Boys and Girls Clubs of San Diegutio stated, “It is so wonderful to have the children be exposed to so many avenues of art and offer the development of young minds. It is a wonderful program that allows the students to attend after school and experience art with a professional artist. Stardust brings to the students the development of engaging the mind to reflect creativity and vision and applying those thoughts to creating wonderful art, we are grateful". In Oceanside, "the Stardust Arts has no peers and is an exceptional program offered to students", stated Principal, Marjorie Oliver of Garrison Elementary. As an active community artist, Cheryl Ehlers also participates in numerous community projects, displays in local venues in North San Diego County and contributes to the community and fundraisers frequently. Funded by sponsorships, participation in sponsoring students into the program is extremely appreciated. The Stardust Arts is joint ventured with Dr. Wilderness Show, a 5013 (c non-profit company that teaches environmental awareness to adults and youth using " magic for the planet". Jointly named the "Magic of Art" while doing community art exhibitions and activities for the youth, don't miss the fun that they create.
