SmartCodeComponent - An Innovative and Versatile Barcode Component for Document Tracking

Oct. 13, 2011 - PRLog -- A problem encountered frequently in many small and medium enterprises today involves the integration of barcodes into documents. TechnoRiver's SmartCodeComponent comes into the picture by allowing an user to easily inserts bar codes to Office documents like those from Word and Excel.

This small but extremely powerful component works with a wide variety of third party applications through the mechanism of Windows MetaFiles (WMF). The vector nature of the WMF format allows the component to be stretched, resized and refined within the container application such as MS Word. This results in a well-formatted barcode that is not only highly scannable, but also fits nicely within the structure of the original document.

The barcode component will work flawlessly with any Windows application that supports OLE (Object Linking and Embedding) Server. This includes most (if not all) Microsoft Office products, WordPad and many third-party softwares. It exposes a full range of barcode properties and allows precise control over barcode dimensions. The font for the human readable text beside the barcode is customizable, and styling features allow the text to be placed on top or below a barcode symbol.

Usage is as simple as inserting the component into the document and selecting a few bar code properties, such as bar code dimensions, symbology and orientation.

SmartCodeComponent supports the commonly used bar code symbologies :

Code39, Code128, Code128A, Code128B, Code128C, Code39ASCII, Interleaved 2 of 5, ITF14, EAN13, ISBN, ISSN, UPCA, UPCE, EAN8, UPC Extension 2, UPC Extension 5, UCCEAN128 (All industry Application Identifiers like SSCC-14, SSCC-18 etc.), Code93, Rational Codabar, MSI (Modified Plessey), Standard 2 of 5, RSS 14(Reduce Space Symbology), RSS Stacked Omnidirectional and RSS Limited.

The product also includes a standalone MetaFile Creator that can be used to generate Windows Metafiles (*.wmf) and barcodes images in jpeg, png, gif and tiff formats.
