"Supernatural" fans raise over $7,000 for children's charity within 24 hours

PRLog (Press Release) - Oct. 13, 2011 - On October 11, 2011 "Supernatural" star Jared Padalecki took to his Twitter to announce to his fans that he and his wife, Genevieve Padalecki (nee Cortese), are expecting their first child in 2012. The next morning he requested, also via Twitter, that in lieu of gifts they preferred fans donate to St. Jude Children's Hospital in order to help those in need and to, in his words, "make the world a brighter place for those not as fortunate."

To assist fans in the donation process, WinchesterBros.com, the largest Supernatural news fansite, set up a donation page and within 12 hours Supernatural fans had raised nearly $4,000 for children's cancer research, prompting an ecstatic tweet from the actor regarding the amount raised within such a short time frame.

After 24 hours, the amount raised reached over $7,000 and continues to climb. The fundraiser will run until the Padalecki baby is born.  Donations can be made via WinchesterBros.com through the FirstGiving page linked on their website.

The Padaleckis met while filming the 4th season of the CW hit show "Supernatural" and married in February 2010.
