Michael Tanner, Thomas Bishop Named to 2012 Best Lawyers in America; Tanner is a Lawyer of the Year

Oct. 13, 2011 - PRLog -- Jacksonville – Best Lawyers has named Michael G. Tanner as the “Jacksonville Best Lawyers Appellate Practice Lawyer of the Year” for 2012, and Tanner and Thomas E. Bishop have been named to the 2012 list of The Best Lawyers in America®. Both Tanner and Bishop, of Tanner Bishop http://www.tannerbishop.com/ in Jacksonville and Tallahassee, have been named among Best Lawyers consecutively since 2006.

Best Lawyers designates “Lawyers of the Year” in high-profile legal specialties in large legal communities, and only a single lawyer in each specialty in each community is honored as the “Lawyer of the Year.” According to Best Lawyers, the “Lawyers of the Year” have received “particularly high ratings in our surveys by earning a high level of respect among their peers for their abilities, professionalism, and integrity.”

For 2012, Tanner is listed in The Best Lawyers in America® in the Appellate Law and Commercial Litigation categories, and Bishop is included in Products Liability and White Collar Defense.

Tanner recently was elected as the Fourth Judicial Circuit’s representative on The Florida Bar Board of Governors.  He is dually board certified in business litigation and civil trial and is a former chair of The Florida Bar Board of Legal Specialization and Education, which oversees all of the Bar’s board certification and continuing legal education programs. He is a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates, Jacksonville chapter, and the Federal Bar Association of Jacksonville. He is the current Counselor of the First District Appellate American Inn of Court.

Bishop is named among Super Lawyers’ “Top 100 Florida Super Lawyers.” He is admitted to practice before the High Court of New Zealand, the Supreme Court of Queensland and the Supreme Court of the Australian Capital Territory. He is a former state prosecutor with extensive experience in the litigation and trial of complex cases in state and federal courts, and before arbitration tribunals. Jacksonville Lawyer magazine has named him a “Next Generation Lawyer.”  

Tanner and Bishop are rated “AV” by Martindale-Hubbell Inc., have been named among Florida Trend magazine’s “Legal Elite” since 2006 and have been included in Florida Super Lawyers’ lists since 2007.  Tanner Bishop’s lawyers practice exclusively in the areas of litigation, trials and appeals.
