Wyndham Philadelphia-Mount Laurel begins construction on solar carports in an effort to reduce their carbon foot print on the environment.

Oct. 13, 2011 - PRLog -- October 7, 2011 - Mount Laurel, NJ – The Wyndham Philadelphia-Mount Laurel Hotel (Wyndham) begins construction of its solar photovoltaic system today.  It will be installing a 756 kW solar photovoltaic system above its parking lot on carport structures.

This green initiative will effectively eliminate over 1.6 million pounds of carbon dioxide, 2,000 pounds of sulfur dioxide and 1,300 pounds of nitrous oxide pollution into the environment.  This reduction of pollutants into our atmosphere is the equivalent of removing 131 cars from the road annually or planting 168 acres of trees each year!

“We are very excited for the commencement of this project and look forward to its completion in the next few months, so that we can begin to enjoy clean, renewable electricity”, says Rishi Shah, General Manager of the Wyndham.  “This is another step in a series of many that help us to elevate the importance of sustainability within our own corporate objectives to make our community better for all.”

With solar carports, the Wyndham will not only produce renewable energy for the hotel’s use, but it will also provide our guests’ and associates’ vehicles some protection from the elements.

“As advocates for sustainability, we look forward to implementing additional sustainable initiatives throughout the remainder of this year and upcoming years to continue our path of sustainability”, says Shah.
