Oct. 13, 2011 - PRLog -- Palm Desert, CA, October 4, 2011 – The Organization of Legal Professionals (OLP) today announced the launch of the legal industry’s first dynamic survey of the salaries and job utilization of litigation support professionals, paralegals, and attorneys. The survey, which was developed for the OLP by a team of HR specialists from CareerNumbers.com and underwritten by ZyLAB, gives respondents immediate data points to help evaluate their career paths, negotiate salaries, and set goals. The survey also provides industry thought leaders with a real-time database from which to cite relevant statistics. The “OLP/ZyLAB Lit Support Survey” is available online at www.theolp.org.

“As a global eDiscovery software and services company, ZyLAB is in tune with the pressures faced by today’s legal professionals and their need for objective benchmarks, particularly around compensation and staffing levels,” said Mary Mack, OLP board member and enterprise technology counsel for ZyLAB. “We are pleased to partner with OLP on this project and thereby further our commitment to delivering tools, best practices, and services that contribute to our clients’ sustainability and well-being.”

All legal professionals are invited to participate in the survey (visit www.theolp.org) and generate an instant comparison report at no charge. Pre-launch participants reported an average of 14 minutes to complete the survey. The survey is divided into 6 sections: Financial, Environment, Organizational, Technology, Demographics, and Future Outlook. The questions within those sections span salary, billable rates, overtime, job satisfaction, office atmosphere, education, experience, software utilization and job duties.

The survey responses remain completely anonymous and the data cannot be traced back to the participant.  The results demonstrate the correlation and deviation among job titles, job descriptions, duties and responsibilities, as well as the salaries, bonuses, and perks that are received by fellow professionals. Analysts and members of the media will also have on-demand access to the aggregate data for use in articles and market reports.

“I am an active contributor on various social media networks for our profession, but this is the first time that I felt my perspectives are going to directly benefit my peers,” said one participant. “I no longer feel in the dark about how my responsibilities and compensation compare to those around me.”

“Through our preliminary launch of the survey we have already collected insight from more than 500 legal professionals. We expect to exceed 10,000 participants within 12 months and thereby provide OLP members with tremendous insight into how their own salary, skills and satisfaction compare to the market as a whole,” said Chere Estrin, Chairperson of the Board of Directors of the Organization of Legal Professionals. “The aggregated results are recalculated upon the completion of every survey – giving the entire industry an extremely powerful and convenient tool to assess where the market is going.”
