Small Scottish Company wins HVR Sustainable Product of the Year Award

Oct. 13, 2011 - PRLog -- At a glittering ceremony in a top London Hotel, Dr Alex Gardiner of Kyle Electronic Design Ltd in Bearsden was presented with the HVR Sustainable Product of the Year Award by the Heating & Ventilation Review magazine. Judged by top experts in the industry, the eco-wand ComfoMeter product came top of 30 nominations for this award including a product from a top Japanese multinational and other products from UK, North America, Japan and across Europe. Kyle Electronics was the only Scottish company short listed for any of the seven awards.

The eco-wand USB ComfoMeter product is a low cost device that helps people and industry alike to reduce their heating bills. By showing people their comfort zone and where they are currently relative to it, the system displays where economies can be made without sacrificing comfort.

Dr Gardiner, Managing Director of Kyle Electronics and the designer of the eco-wand system said “Winning this award shows that the small companies can take on the world in this new area of energy reduction. Our product helps people understand more about how to keep warm with minimum cost and helps show industry where and when they are wasting energy.”.

The ComfoMeter is one of a range of products in the eco-wand range. All the products are designed to monitor the heat energy being used. The product looks like a USB memory stick but send temperature and humidity data to its associated computer. The computer then displays this information and works out how far from ideal comfort with economy the conditions are. Using this information, the computer advises on how energy can be saved. Energy can also be saved in offices by allowing energy managers to monitor the conditions at any position within a workspace.
